Does LATISSE® Actually Work?

Yes! LATISSE® is not your typical “miracle supplement.” It is clinically proven (actually) to increase eyelash thickness and length gradually. It does this by lengthening the eyelash growth cycle, encouraging the eyelash to gain length and thickness as it progresses through its natural growth cycle.

LATISSE® contains bimatoprost (also released under the brand name Lumigan), which is the primary active ingredient that facilitates eyelash enhancement. How bimatoprost encourages this growth is not yet certain. However, the effects are apparent: it increases the length of the anagen phase (growth phase) of the eyelash, and it encourages more hairs to grow during this phase.

LATISSE® treatments are gradual and may take up to 16 weeks (4 months) to see full results. But these results are remarkable!

To see these complete results, you must apply LATISSE® every night for the entire period. If you stop using LATISSE®, your lashes will eventually return to their normal appearance.

As with all medications, there is a small chance of experiencing side effects from LATISSE®. Clinical studies have shown that less than 4% of users experience negative side effects. These side effects include:

  • Red eyes
  • Itchy eyes
  • Eyelid skin darkening
  • Eye irritation
  • Symptoms similar to dry eye
  • Swollen eyelids

Dr. Baldwin will assess your eyes at regular intervals to ensure you are responding favorably to treatment.

If you develop a new ocular condition or reaction during your LATISSE® treatments, such as a sudden decrease in visual acuity or infection, please book an appointment to see Dr. Baldwin as soon as you are able.
